This blog is about different types of Manja cords, how it can be used properly, and tactics. Also explaining the importance of Manja during kite flying.
Introduction of Manja:
Manja’s are made from a white thread after which Manja makers coat by mixing color, mashed rice, gum, powder glass for sharpness, etc which is important to cut other kites. Manja is also called Manjha, Dor, Charkhi, Lotai, Firkis, or kite thread in different places.
What is Cord:
A cord means the strength of thread which is made by combining small thread into a single thread according to requirement, especially for flying kites.
Types of Cord in Manja:
There are various types of Manjha which are used in kite flying
- 6 Cord
- 9 Cord
- 12 Cord
6 Cord:
6 Cord Manjha is made by combining 6 small threads into a single thread. It is perfect for flying small and normal kites.
9 Cord:
9 Cord Manja is made by combining 9 small threads into a single thread. As the string has more strength, through this medium and some big fancy kites have also been flown.
12 Cord:
12 Cord Manja is made by combining 12 small threads into a single thread. It is the strongest manja ever, through this most of the time big kites are fly from this cord manjha.
What are the differences between 6, 9 and 12 Cord:
6 Cord | 9 Cord | 12 Cord | |
Use of Manja
6 cord Manja is considered a small size kite flying thread.
Whereas 9 cord Manja is perfect for small to medium size kite flying.
12 Cord Manja is used to fly big kites or tournament kites.
Types of Manja
Maidani Manja can use in 6 Cord thread.
Panda Platinum manjha, Panda Titanium Manja, Vardhman Mirchi, Tejas Manja, Bareilly manjha, Chain 8 Manja should be used in 9 Cord.
Panda gold Manja and Genda Manja will be the perfect choice in 12 Cord.
Strength
6 Cord Manjas are not stable in every kite they are suitable for small kites, due to its thread strength.
9 Cord Manja are stable for every kite for flying.
In this, big kites are flown to get maximum benefit, it is not that much value for normal size kites.
Comparing with Chinese Manja
This thread cut Chinese or other branded Manja’s buy using kite flying tactics.
9 Cord thread also cut Chinese Manja easily.
12 Cord thread is least preferred for cutting Chinese Manja.
Wind Forecasting
when the wind is a minimum of 4 to 5 km/hr and a maximum of 10 km/hr, you can use 6 cord Manja.
When the wind is below15 km/hr, you can able to use 9 cord Manja through which we get maximum benefits it.
when the wind is more than 15km/hr you should try 12 cord Manja where the opponent kite will cut easily within touch.
Types of Kites
For Manja
For 6 Cord, kites like fighter cheel kites, Khambhat kites, etc can fly easily.
For 9 Cord, kites like fighter rocket kites, cheel kites, Adadhiya Baana kites, Rajwadi cheel, and many more, etc can fly easily.
For 12 Cord, kites like big chand designer kites, Adadhiya kites, Ponia cheel kites, Ponia Baana kites, Designer ponia kites, and many big kites, etc, can fly through this thread.
I suggest that 9 Cord manjha is best to even cut the plastic threads, but only with quality thread it’s possible. Also, 9 cord or 12 cord Vardhaman’s panda Manja is good enough to cut the plastic thread one that comes with a discovery tag.
the sharpness that the thin threads provide, thick threads cannot match that due to many factors one main factor is that the thick thread will start to form a curve in a thread for a long-range of kite flying which is rejected for professional kite fighter also it will add weight to the kite and limit its speed.
